The short version
Oli the Owl is a small independent project. We only collect personal data if you actively send it to us — either by joining the newsletter or by writing to us. We do not run advertising trackers, do not sell data, and do not share your information with anyone except the providers we need to actually deliver our newsletter and email.
What we collect (and when)
- Newsletter signup. When you choose to subscribe on our "Join the Journey" page, we ask for your email address and, optionally, your first name. This is handled by Mailchimp, which stores your subscription. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link at the bottom of any email we send you.
- Contact form. Our contact page opens your email client and lets you write to hello@olitheowl.com. Whatever you choose to send (your name, message) goes directly to that inbox.
- Webfonts. The site loads custom fonts from Google's font CDN. Your browser makes a request to Google for those fonts, which means Google may see your IP address when you visit. We do not use Google Fonts to track you, and we do not load Google Analytics or any other Google tracker.
- Hosting logs. Our host (Vercel) keeps short-lived access logs for security and abuse prevention. These are not used for marketing.
What we don't do
- No advertising trackers, retargeting pixels, or third-party analytics.
- No selling, renting, or sharing of subscriber lists.
- No cookies set by us beyond the small flag that remembers your consent choice.
Your rights
You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time. You can also email hello@olitheowl.com to request a copy of any personal data we hold about you, or to have it deleted. If you are in the UK or EU, you have rights under the GDPR / UK GDPR including access, rectification, erasure, and the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
Children
Oli the Owl is a children's book series, but the website is intended for the adults who buy, read, and share the books. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child has submitted personal information to us, please contact us and we will delete it.
Changes
If we materially change this policy we'll update the "last updated" date at the top. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the revised policy.
